Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

Set up on the classic RE 1960S interceptor, the motorcycle has its design from England’s Royal Enfield Technology Centre. This is conventionally a roadster. The cradle frame, telescopic fork, twin silencers, twin shock absorbers, and triangular fuel tank are some tempting features that provide a rigid definition to this machine.

Likewise, the alluring nooks and crannies of the motorcycle certainly enhance the beauty in every possible way. For instance, the shape of the fender and the rim fuses with the tires assemble some classic jewelry at the display.

The engine continues to impress the riders like its predecessors. Also, the parallel-twin motor has made the integration of BS6 possible in a very efficient way while showcasing the unique design vividly inherited from the ancestors. Similarly, the 4 strokes, 648cc, and air & oil-cooled 8V parallel-twin engine generate an impressive power of 47bhp @ 7250 rpm.

Further, the impressive torque of 52Nm @ 5250 rpm is delivered by this powerful engine. 80% power delivery is available at as low as 2500 rpm. Furthermore, the performance details, the Interceptor 650 achieves 0-60kph only in 2.98s; and 0-100kph in 6.66s. This motorcycle has made no compromises in terms of power delivery and a 6-speed engine never compromises.

Fuel Economy

Despite the powerful engine, the Interceptor has a mileage of around 24.80kpl in the city and 34.66kpl while cruising on highways. A 13.7 Ltr fuel capacity allows cursing up to 400 km with no stop.

Correspondingly, the curb weight of the Interceptor is 202 kg. It is equipped with tubeless tires and spoke wheels. Besides, the 1400mm wheelbase and 804 mm seat height make an accessible, confidence-inspiring riding position. Besides, it is smartly designed to have a 174mm ground clearance and an excellent lean angle. 36.5 degrees of steering allows good low-speed maneuvering in city traffic as well.

The dimensions of the front and rear tires are 100/90-18 and 130/70-18 respectively. Dual-Channel Abs is available which provides predictive braking even at top speeds grabbing a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. Additionally, the suspensions in the front are aided by 41mm forks with 110mm of travel and twin rear suspensions by twin coil-over shocks having 88mm travel.

LED taillights and headlamps with pass lights; digital tachometer and digital trip meters; two trip meters and bar-type fuel gauge; and an analog speedometer are other features.

Possible Improvements

I would prefer a more detailed console. For example, a clock intact and more technical details would be handy. Similarly, the ride quality is up to the mark except for some sharp bumps due to the stiffness of the rear suspension. However, the narrow seat also compromises comfort during long journeys. A continuous ride for long hours may be an issue due to the firm seat with stiff suspensions.
